After Oshkosh gives those that want to attend both events better options. Thanks John for setting up this vote thread. Stan V

Mentone being after Oshkosh allows the vendors a couple days rest and travel time for Mentone.

After Osh and banquet on Saturday night at the airport.

As always, thank you for all your efforts John.

Regarding the banquet: In 2012, the PRA had large, circus-style tents rented & installed for the banquet. A humongous thunder storm hit the area. Heavy rain and high winds soaked anything not covered, and even some that was thought to be covered!

Many attendees helped restore one of those large tents that had partially collapsed under the combination of the heavy rain and strong winds, by re-tensioning the guy lines w/ the winch system holding everything taut, while under attack from the wind and rain.

The local Mentone church that hosts the banquet is a pleasant environment vs. whatever Mother Nature throws at us unexpectantly. On a usually muggy, sticky summer mid-west day, spending a hour or two for a pleasant evening meal in that building in the cool, refreshing air conditioning, and having nice, clean, modern restrooms is wonderful!

My question for the PRA board is this: What does it cost the PRA to rent those large tents for a banquet on the airport grounds vs. holding it at the local church?

Are the local church group making $ for a fund-raiser by hosting the banquet?

I would venture to say that the air conditioned atmosphere is a welcome respite from the heat & humidity, as well as protection in case of a thunderstorm wrecking havoc like what happened back in 2012.

Having the convention after Oshkosh seems to work better for attendance.

After Oshkosh ... need to unwind with friendly special environment, nice amenities - powered campsites!
    I like the banquet @ the church site .... it's not far from camp, A/C & weather-proof - Kevin's points are excellent!

I would prefer after Oshkosh because the vendors leave early to get to Oshkosh.

To all members you own PRA your board of directors will always try and make the most of our members happy as we can.
But we need your help in letting us know what your needs and desires. We can make PRA anything you wish just let us know.

    Hi Kevin/Bro
I'm not sure how much the tent costs. But the weather at the wrong time did hurt us once.
We donate money to the church in exchange for the meeting place.
The tent was nice for shade during the day was an extra benefit. However we have a tent donated that we will put up for shade and we plan to get more.

Also I will put a motion before the board to spend the money on a Fly-in Convention Kit. The idea is to buy all the things we need and build a shipping box or boxes to ship it to all the chapters for there fly-in's. PA systems, projectors, table and chairs, 4 shade canopies, 4 AC radios with 2 headsets and one patch cord to PA System, golf-cart, etc, etc.

I've asked Jake for a list of what they need for their fly-in and I invite all chapters to provide us with what they need.
PRA needs the same things, like PA systems, projectors, tables and a few chairs,

See you soon at El Mirage Fly-IN!!!!!
